PAX

In 2019 Enlisted worked with PAX Labs to update their packaging, unifying to a single global SKU and premiumizing the existing dieline to reflect the top-of-market price for a vaporizer product.

PAX had two main product lines, the 3, a high-end flower and vape oil device, and the Era family of products, including the Era Life, a more midrange vape oil device available in a range of bright colors. We began by exploring render styles to make the products stand out in a minimalistic layout with a distinctive approach for each tier.

RENDER STYLING

We wanted to present the 3 as work of art, highlighting its quality in a heroic way. The Era Life, by contrast, needed to show energy and brightness.

The 3 was positioned on a plinth at an upright, heroic angle to emphasize its premiumness. The box was kept mostly neutral to highlight the products’ sophisticated color palette.

The Era Life uses the same plinth but the product levitates, instilling it with a sense of energy. The packaging is also tone-on-tone, reflecting that energy and separating it from the neutral tones of the 3.

GUIde

The products had an intricate setup process and multiple ways of use, which needed to be shown and explained in multiple languages. We split up doing illustrations for all steps across our team while maintaining a consistent style. In addition to the illustrations, we had to copywrite and modify some steps for space and efficiency. The last interior elements we designed were the hero logos, a system built from multiple layered images taken in nature, seen to the left.

CONSOLIDATION

Given how new this type of product was at the time, there was a lot of required legal copy and shifting governmental policies. We needed to consolidate seven languages onto the existing dieline to give PAX maximum flexibility in the markets they sold in. Doing this while maintaining a clean aesthetic was a major challenge, especially considering the small box and minimum legal point size.
